Where does the data come from?

The WARN notice lists published by state workforce agencies: Alabama Department of Workforce; Arizona Department of Economic Security; California Employment Development Department; Colorado Department of Labor and Employment; Delaware Department of Labor; FloridaCommerce; Technical College System of Georgia (Office of Workforce Development); Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (Illinois workNet); Indiana Department of Workforce Development; Iowa Workforce Development; Kansas Department of Commerce; Maine Department of Labor; Maryland Department of Labor; Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity; New York State Department of Labor; Ohio Department of Job and Family Services; Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission; Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry; Utah Department of Workforce Services; Vermont Department of Labor; Virginia Works; Washington Employment Security Department; Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

What is a WARN notice?

Under the federal WARN Act and several state laws, employers with 100 or more workers must give 60 days' notice of a plant closing or mass layoff, usually 50 or more people at one site. The notice goes to the state, which publishes it.

Which states aren't covered?

Texas, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Kentucky, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Oklahoma. Their lists either block automated access or are published only as PDFs. Several other states publish no regular list.

How quickly do notices show up?

Most states post within a few days of receiving a notice; California updates twice a week. We check every state every weekday and send what's new since your last email, even when a state backdates a notice.

Do you include employees' names?

No. Notices are about employers: the company, the site, how many people and when. We never include affected employees, company contacts or union officials.

Is the employer's phone or email included?

Rarely. WARN lists don't publish emails, and only Ohio lists a company phone. You get the employer's name and the site address.

Can I contact the laid-off workers?

No. The data is about employers, for business-to-business outreach. It can't be used to contact or screen affected workers, or for credit, insurance, employment or housing decisions about anyone.

Can I change my states?

Yes. Reply to any email with the states you want; moving to all states changes the plan.

How do I cancel?

Anytime, from the link in every email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.

Where should we send your alerts?

  1. Pay securely with Stripe (your email carries over).
  2. Matching notices from the last two weeks arrive within the hour.
  3. Then new notices every weekday morning. Cancel anytime.

By continuing you agree to the Terms of Service and Data Use Policy.
